Join us for dinner January 21st as Mr. Larry East, VP Albemarle Corporation, shares some of his experiences and lessons learned leading a multi-year business transformation program, supported by the implementation of a new ERP platform (SAP S/4).   More than “just an IT project” this was a “game changer” for Albemarle- resulting in simpler, standardized global business processes; increased productivity; improved customer service; and better alignment with corporate strategy.  Of course change of this magnitude never comes easy.  Larry and his team stretched their imaginations to find creative tactics and techniques to keep the project energized, team members motivated, and stakeholders supportive.  This is a dinner you won’t want to miss!

This presentation will count as 1.5 PDU's for PMI credential holders.

Mr. Larry E. East, Jr.

Larry is Vice President of Business Transformation at Albemarle Corporation, a global specialty chemicals company headquartered in Charlotte, NC.  He was previously Vice President of Global Engineering.  He spent several years in the fabrication and construction industries before pursuing his Civil Engineering degree at Mississippi State University.

After receiving his B.S. in Civil Engineering from MSU in 1987, Larry moved to Baton Rouge, LA with his wife, Kim, and his son, Trey, to begin his career with Ethyl Corporation (later spun off as Albemarle Corporation).  He worked as a Civil Engineer and a Construction Engineer in Louisiana, Texas, and Virginia before returning to Baton Rouge to lead a multidiscipline site engineering team.

In 2000, Larry left Albemarle Corporation to join The Shaw Group to develop and grow an engineering business focusing on the specialty chemicals market.  Under his leadership, this business grew to several hundred employees serving clients across the USA.

In 2006, his old company was growing and in need of developing a corporate engineering department.  Larry joined Albemarle Corporation as Vice President to develop and lead an organization to design and build projects in the USA, Europe, China, Korea, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia.

Most recently, Larry was chosen to lead the integration of a large $6 billion acquisition which positioned Albemarle as a Fortune 500 company.

A native of Vicksburg MS, Larry is married to Kim whom he met in High School.  They are the proud parents of a son and a daughter and also have two granddaughters.    Larry donates time and energy in support of academics and the industry in which he works by serving on the Civil and Environmental Advisory Boards for Mississippi State University and Louisiana State University, the South Louisiana Board of Directors for Teach for America, and previously on the Board of Directors for the Engineering and Construction Contracting Association.   In 2017, Larry was initiated as a Distinguished Fellow of the Bagley College of Engineering at Mississippi State University.
