Emotional Intelligence - The Key to Career Success

The most common "derailer" of executive careers is the lack of emotional intelligence (EQ).  In this training, Juengling explores the concepts of personal awareness and social awareness in a humorous but provocative way for leaders and emerging leadership.

Learning Objectives:

1) Each participant will understand the 21 components of EQ and take a personalized assessment.

2) Two foundational behaviors are explored in depth: effective listening and behavioral self-control.

3) Case studies will be used to heighten the participants learning on more frequent challenging behaviors.

4) A personal plan will be developed by the attendee.

Craig Juengling

Craig Juengling brings over two decades of executive level leadership and experience to his profession as an Executive Coach.  His experience is principally in health care administration as a hospital CEO or as a Division President supervising hospital chief executives.  He obtained an MBA from Louisiana State University in 1982.

Running his first hospital at age 29, Craig's responsibility grew progressively during his years with a Fortune 5000 specialty hospital company; when he left 7 years later, he was responsible for a division of eleven hospitals located in seven states, with over 1500 employees. Later in his career, Craig built Maryland’s second largest specialty health care system by acquiring competitors and implementing aggressive internal growth strategies. Over the course of ten years, his company grew from one location to eight locations with nearly $100 million in annual revenue with over 750 employees throughout the state.

In 2009 Craig made the decision to leave health care and pursue a passion to become a professional and executive coach. He is one of an elite group of Executive Coaches certified by the International Coach Federation. Less than 23,000 coaches worldwide are certified and only 2700 coaches have obtained the PCC designation in the United States. He is the only Professionally Certified Coach (PCC) in Louisiana with over two decades of C-Level experience.

Craig focuses his coaching practice to meet the unique challenges of executives, managers, and business owners. He loves team building and coaching executives to successfully implement key results areas including employee engagement, growth, and leadership development. He regularly conducts leadership seminars on Becoming the Employer of Choice, Understand How to Use Your Strengths, Strategic Employee Development and Building High Performance Teams. Craig also serves on the faculty of LSU’s Flores MBA Program and is sought out as a keynote speaker for area business conferences.

Communicating with (the Right) Emotion  

If you’ve ever been involved in a seemingly unimportant conversation that ended with yourself or the other person in tears or angry, did you stop and wonder “what the heck just happened?”

By understanding the role that emotion plays in personal interaction, you can learn to read the signs that will allow you to adapt, adjust and communicate more effectively.

Helene Kaiser Wall, SHRM-SCP, is an Associate Director in P&N's Consulting Services Group. Prior to joining P&N in 2012, Helene worked in human resources compliance and management for financial and healthcare organizations.  
Helene's experience includes serving as the human resources risk advisor for clients in a variety of industries, such as construction, manufacturing and distribution, transportation, healthcare, financial institutions, education, restaurants, non-profit and professional services. Her prior roles include governmental work as liaison in the City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge Mayor's Community Ordinance Enforcement Program.

In accordance with P&N's philosophy of giving back to the community, Helene is also involved with college recruiting programs, professional associations and volunteer activities.

This Professional Development Day will count as 5 Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMI credential holders.
