Can Communities of Practice Help Your Project Execution?

Communities of Practice (CoP) are known Force Multipliers in both Agile and Traditional Project Execution through sharing knowledge, tools and practices. Yet many fade away. What are some of the failure modes and how should CoP be structured for success? What are the advantages to the organization and benefits to the CoP members? In this collaborative presentation let’s pursue the answers and develop an approach to setting up, improving, and sustaining our communities of practice within your enterprise as well as among peer organizations.

Steven McGee is Agile Practice Lead and Operational Data Intelligence Manager at BCBSLA. He is a highly successful technology leader with extensive experience in project management, enterprise data and systems development and information technology service management. He has spent decades leading IT teams, programs, and organizations within DoD and in the private sector. He is a PMP, PMI-ACP, CSP, SPC4 and a regular presenter at PMI and Agile regional conferences and a trainer of Scaled Agile Framework and Disciplined Agile. As a board member of, Steve has a deep interest ending the extreme effects of poverty.
